There have been a recent vinyl release, a 3 volume set referred to as Acetates that supposedly feature the complete John Wizardo master. This new title by No Label claims to be from the master tapes, a recent post on Twitter claims to show a picture of the actual master tapes themselves.

Wizardo also recorded the original “Crackers” bootleg from Pink Floyd’s 9/22/1972 Hollywood Bowl show, would be nice to see that master tape surface sometime

I am a bit confused about the tape source for this latest reissue of the famous June 23, 1977 Zeppelin performance. The Argenteum Astrum site states that this ‘no label’ title marks the first time the entire Wizardo tape will be issued on cd, but I thought this tape had already been utilised on the excellent SODD label version of this show about a decade ago. Can anyone clear up this issue for me?

    • SODD was apparently sourced from vinyl which didn’t include “The Song Remains The Same” (which supposedly has some tape issues) and was patched in from another source (Millard?) as well as a few other spots. Gerard’s review covers the patches:

      • I believe these tapes are now being used from the ACTUAL Wizardo tapes as newly transferred masters. Did Angentenum Astrum also suggest that the source for these masters were also acetates that had been released recently?

        • Yes Stuart. The Argenteum ‘recent update’ section states this reissue is most likely sourced from a ‘triple acetate set.’ I love this show and will find it hard to resist this upgrade! I first heard this performance on volume 1 of the Dragonfly label vinyl as a teenager in the early 80s and was transfixed. My very first illicit dose of the hammer of the gods! Forty years later I am still here …
